Faster Cloud uploads, improvements, fixes, and ending support for macOS 10.13 — New in Sketch 63
With this release, we’re focussing on small but important improvements and fixes, and making an important change to system requirements.
From time to time, we take a step back from launching big features to focus on smaller improvements and fixes that all add up to a better experience. And with Sketch 63, we’re excited to bring you some of these smaller, but equally important, updates.
At the same time, Sketch 63 is the last release of the Mac app to support macOS 10.13. From Sketch 64 onwards, you will need to be running macOS 10.14 or higher to stay up to date.
Faster Cloud uploads
When you save a document to Cloud, there’s a lot of work that goes on in the background to make sure your designs look as good in the browser as they do in the Mac app. That work has mostly taken place on your Mac, but we’ve gradually been moving that work to our servers instead. Sketch 63 is the final step in that process.
We’ve been testing this internally for a long time now, as well as through our Beta programme. Your documents are still as secure as they’ve always been, so you should only notice two changes; faster saving for Cloud documents and improved performance on your Mac.
Along with faster uploads, we’re working hard to make sure the documents you see in Cloud look exactly as you’d expect. We’re pushing new updates every week to improve things like fonts and text styling, but as ever, if you run into any issues or spot anything odd, please do let us know.
Faster Cloud uploads should make it even easier to share complex documents with your team. They’re also the perfect excuse to take advantage of the new Cloud Inspector, which brings free developer handoff to Sketch.
Ending support for macOS 10.13
Sketch 63 is the final Mac app release to support macOS 10.13 (High Sierra). When we release Sketch 64, the minimum system requirements will change to macOS 10.14 (Mojave).
We’re proud of making Sketch as accessible as possible to Mac users, and we take decisions around minimum system requirements seriously. Requiring macOS 10.14 or higher from now on means we can take advantage of modern macOS technologies to make Sketch faster and more reliable.
As ever, you can download previous versions of Sketch (with lower system requirements) from our updates page.
Smaller improvements and bug fixes
We’re always listening to your feedback and looking at how we can make Sketch better — from major features, to smaller tweaks and improvements. With Sketch 63, we’ve taken some time to focus on those smaller tweaks and improvements, along with a whole host of big fixes. For a full list of of what’s changed, take a look at the release notes.
